George Durkin


George Durkin, a native New Englander, received his Bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied with the well-known timpanist, Vic Firth. His studies in Boston also included mentoring with Alan Dawson of the Dave Brubeck Quartet and Thomas Gauger of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. While living in the Boston area, Mr. Durkin performed with the Arthur Fielder Pops Orchestra, the Boston Opera Company and served as principal percussionist with the Portland Maine Symphony Orchestra for 7 seasons.

Upon relocating to Las Vegas, Mr. Durkin received a Master’s degree from UNLV and has performed in almost every major resort on the Las Vegas Strip. He served as the house drummer/percussionist at Caesars Palace for over 16 years and also performed as percussionist with “Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular” at the Venetian Hotel for 6 years.

In addition, Mr. Durkin and his wife Sheryl have very successful careers in the real estate business where George is an active Broker Manager for over 30 years, now with Realty Executives of NV. The Durkins enjoy spending time in the Phoenix area visiting with their two sons and also enjoy frequent trips to Brian Head, Utah for skiing, fishing and hiking.
