Harp
Kim Glennie, featured soloist and principal harpist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, is one of the city’s most versatile musicians. Her career includes performing in concert with artists as diverse as Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti, and Placido Domingo, Celine Dion and Cher, and Martina McBride and Faith Hill. She has recorded soundtracks for movies and television,and has performed for Presidents and royalty. She is also the proud teacher of many very successful students, and is currently the harp faculty at UNLV, CCSN, and Nevada School of the Arts.
Costa Rican-born harpist María Paula Loría Valerín has appeared with ensembles and artists including the Nashville Symphony, Andrea Bocelli, Opera Naples, Symphony of the Americas, Florida Grand Opera, and Columbus Ballet. She began her musical training at the Instituto Nacional de la Música in Costa Rica and holds degrees from Columbus State University and the Frost School of Music. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Loría Valerín has also performed in studio settings, on recordings for artists such as Il Divo, Bad Bunny and the Studio Intensives Orchestra. A two-time recipient of the Sphinx SOPA Competition’s Most Outstanding Instrumentalist (harp) award, she is committed to fostering visibility and opportunities for Latin American harpists.
