For the Las Vegas Philharmonic’s 2017-18 season finale on May 19, 2018, the orchestra performed Bernstein’s Fancy Free Variations from the ballet about three sailors on shore-leave in New York City, followed by one of Beethoven’s most famous concertos, Piano Concerto No. 5, spotlighting the virtuosity of rising star Danae Dörken, and ending with the spiritual grandeur of Prokofiev’s 5th symphony.
