One of the most celebrated recordings ever made of the Brahms Piano Concerto №1 was made by Leon Fleisher and the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by George Szell. It was recorded in 1958 and hearing it now, especially with its most current remastering is a complete joy!
STEREORAMA, indeed!
I suppose it’s not altogether surprising that the two recordings I’ve always loved the most of this concerto are with the same conductor.
