Las Vegas is considered by many to be the "ninth island" of Hawaii and this concert celebrates the strong connection between the tropical paradise and our desert oasis by showcasing traditional and popular Hawaiian music. Matt Catingub, the Founder & Artistic Director of Hawaii Pops and long-time Pops Conductor of the Honolulu Symphony and the Hawaii Symphony, will be featured as conductor, host and performer for this exciting evening with special guest Amy Hãnaiali'i.
Bulgarian conductor Danail Rachev, Music Director of the Eugene Symphony, leads the Las Vegas Philharmonic's premiere performance of Brahms' First Symphony, a work that was to reinforce the public's high opinion of the composer as successor to Beethoven.
Our new Music Director Donato Cabrera kicks off the festivities with our popular annual celebration of the holiday season! The full orchestra will be joined by the men and women of the Las Vegas Master Singers and other special guests to present a seasonal program.
Each season the Las Vegas Philharmonic showcases the talents of an internationally rising star. Acclaimed for her passionate performances, and compelling command of her instrument, violinist Bella Hristova will perform Max Bruch's romantic First Violin Concerto. A young musician with a growing career as a soloist and recording artist, The Strad has praised, "Every sound she draws is superb".
