Instantly memorable, and intoxicatingly melodic, Chopin is hailed as Poland's most famous composer and pianist. Celebrate his 200th birthday will be the Las Vegas Philharmonic on April 3rd at Artemus Ham Halll on the UNLV campus playing the Chopin Concerto No. 1. It will be preceded by the crowd favorite pre-concert lecture with Maestro David Itkin. To commemorate this momentous occasion the orchestra will be performing Chpoin's adored "Concerto No. 1 in E Minor", Edvard Grieg's "Symphonic Dances", and Claude Debussy's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun"

The 4th concert in the Masterwork Series, on April 3rd's concert will feature Ukrainian-born Valentina Lisitsa on piano performing Chopin’s Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Lisitsa's passion and dazzling talent shine through her performances, and has been acclaimed as a "bona fide angel playing" and an "electrifying pianist."

Led by Maestro David Itkin, the evening's concert will be preceded with an intimate and interactive pre-concert conversation that begins promptly at 7:15pm, giving attendees a chance to learn more about both the music and the composers featured. This is a great way to learn more about the music you will be hearing, but also a fantastic opportunity for families to help foster interest in the arts for children.

Leading the Philharmonic is Maestro Itkin, who is in his third year with the Orchestra. The Philharmonic is in its 11th year proving that not only does Las Vegas have culture, but class and style as well.

Tickets are available online, or by calling the UNLV box office at 895-2787. Three levels of tickets are available at $35, $50 and $75. Mini-subscription series tickets are also available for the Masterworks series, the Pops series, or both. The Philharmonic provides a shuttle service from the Summerlin and Anthem area respectively for ease of parking, and leave from the Starbright theatre for those in Summerlin and the Independence center for those coming from Anthem in Henderson. Bus passes can be purchased at the box office when buying concert tickets. These are available for $15.
