The Las Vegas Philharmonic’s Masterworks IV Concert will feature the Dvořák Cello Concerto performed by guest cellist, Zuill Bailey and the Sibelius Symphony No. 5.
Two years ago the brilliant cellist Zuill Bailey took Las Vegas by storm in a sold-out concert. A consummate concerto soloist, Bailey has performed with orchestras all over the world including Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Israel, and Moscow. He has collaborated with conductors including Itzhak Perlman, Alan Gilbert, and Andrew Litton. Under the Telar label, his “Bach Cello Suites” recording immediately soared to the Number 1 spot on the Classical Billboard Charts. Bailey’s latest CD, “Brahms Cello Sonatas and Songs” releases this week.
The Philharmonic's concert will conclude with a performance of the Sibelius Symphony No. 5. Sibelius' 5th Symphony is a brief but stirring work of elegant lyrical and spiritual content. Maestro Itkin describes the work as containing "soaring cathedrals of sound", and mentions that it is one of his most favorite works in the entire repertoire.
