On October 31, 1864, Nevada became the 36th state to enter the union of the United States of America. In this, our first concert of the Sesquicentennial, we proudly shine the spotlight on the talents of University of Nevada, Reno graduate and San Francisco Symphony Resident Conductor, Donato Cabrera, Reno-born, Grammy Award-winning UNLV alumnus, composer Eric Whitacre and the winner of the 2014 Primrose International Viola Competition that is being held in Las Vegas for the first time.
